Published 1 year, 8 months ago in Making News.we are very sad that the tourism minister is thinking to do a t.v. commercial that costs 158 million on kenny to bring tourist to this country now im not against kenny but as a tour guide /theme business we have been on a merry go round as we seek funding for a bus called the convict shuttle and camera gear to add to our little business we seek $80 thousand dollars i would do the t.v. commercial for free if i could just get some funds but im doing it hard by useing my own funds and all im trying to do is bring tourists to the hard hit gippsland tour spots i dont think we are asking much just a fair go and be able to get at sponsors or grant money for our convict show we feel let down and frustrated that some body like the tourism minister knows that the gippsland tour spots are doing it hard and yet maybe i have to clean dunnys to get our company up with the big wigs i say thats not the aussie way give the little bloke a go they might learn a thing or two

gotta go through the chain. Try getting grants from local council, then, if lucky! you can say to state politicians “we got a grant for this and that.”
You then have credibility (as far as the machinery of the process goes) and you will get better success.
Next trick, try tricks and stunts.
Trick is, try to find a user friendly news crew- radio or tv. If radio, you must have killer sounds- that’s their sound bite they look for. Failing that, and incredible news story.
Perhaps you could kidnap the local politicians (with their permission / cooperation) and get some coverage that way.
Advertising is expensive (as i am sure you know) but a gimmicky, quirky news story is cost free promotion.
