Yes, it could happen here. There are many things that are happening around us that we, the general public, are not aware of, drug distribution syndicates are an example. There has been plots discovered which resulted in arrests, but everyone should be alert, and watchful.

But don’t get alarmed, we are a free to use the National Security Hotline: 1800 123 400 and even if you think you are over reacting, they want to know about things you see.

London terror attack survivor Louise Barry blames John Howard for increasing the risk of terrorism in Australia with his Iraq policy.

But surely that means he is doing the right thing?

The terrorists are clearly worried by his actions and seek to stop them by ‘terrorising’ Australians into withdrawing.

If they succeed then Australia may indeed be safer (in the short term) but the situation in the rest of the world will be far more dangerous and unstable. More innocent people will be killed, including Australians living, working, or holidaying abroad. And it’s a bit like blackmail. Once they’ve managed to change government policy on Iraq what will their next demand be?

You are either for terrorism or against it, there is no middle ground. And if you are against it then you must expect them to hit back from time to time. But that doesn’t mean you should give in to terrorist murderers. We have to keep gathering intelligence in order to abort their plans and we have to collaborate with others of like minds such as the USA and the UK. Yes, this means Australia becomes a target but the alternative, burying our heads in the sand of isolationist policy, is not a tenable position.
